ABOUT MOON LIGHT BASIN RESORT
Moonlight Basin Ski Resort is on the north face of Lone Mountain. In December 2003 after careful, environmentally sensitive planning and development, Moonlight Basin Ski Area opened and has quickly gained a reputation as a first-class, year-round destination, Montana ski resort.
At Moonlight Basin you'll have lots of time and freedom to bag the chutes and glades because the lift lines are short and the crowds are few. Its northerly exposure helps retain the 400 or so inches of light and dry powder that falls most years.
The Headwaters Chair brings boarders and skiers up from the bottom of Moonlight Basin to The Headwaters Terrain, boasting just about the steepest terrain anywhere inbounds in the Rockies. This terrain, only accessible by hiking a few years ago, is now lift-accessed. More than 3,500 acres, accessed by 12 lifts is open!
This will position Moonlight Basin as a must ski destination. And with Moonlight Basin and Big Sky Resort offering joint lift tickets, the nearly 5,300 acres of present terrain already makes this place the largest skiable terrain in the United States! Eat your heart out Vail and Mammoth...
Moonlight Basin is a pretty laid-back, friendly place with outstanding staff, awesome scenery, and challenging terrain. Choose valet parking or do it yourself. Hire a Mountain Guide or go it alone. Ask for your free tour of Moonlight Basin's portion of Lone Mountain on your first visit, or go tour it with your friends.
When the ski day is done or you’re not in the mood to ski, see the concierge to treat yourself to a spa, ice-skate, swim, work out at the health club, go dog-sledding, take a snowshoe tour, head into town, even tour Yellowstone National Park. During the other three seasons, ask the concierge to set you up for fly fishing, rafting, canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking, or hiking, and next year Jack Nicklaus will have his Signature golf course finished for you to shag some balls at about 7000’. |
