Now Owned By Big Sky Resort
Moonlight Basin Ski Resort, Big Sky, Montana is on the north face of Lone Mountain.
In December 2003 after careful, environmentally sensitive planning and development, Moonlight Basin Ski Area opened and has quickly gained a reputation as a first-class, year-round destination, Montana skiing and snowboarding resort.
Fifteen years later, after being purchased by Big Sky Resort, Moonlight Basin still offers you ample time and freedom to bag the chutes and glades because the lift lines remain short and the crowds few. The Basin’s northerly exposure helps retain the 400 or so inches of light and dry powder that falls most years.
Moonlight Basin is a pretty laid-back, friendly place with outstanding staff, awesome scenery, and challenging terrain.
The Headwaters Chair brings boarders and skiers up from the bottom of Moonlight Basin to The Headwaters Terrain, boasting just about the steepest terrain anywhere in-bounds in the Rockies. This terrain, only accessible by hiking a few years ago, is now lift-accessed. More than 3,500 acres, accessed by 12 lifts is open!
This positions Moonlight Basin as a must-ski destination. And, with Moonlight Basin and Big Sky Resort offering one lift ticket, the nearly 5,300 acres of skier and snowboarder terrain between the two makes this place the largest skiable terrain in the United States! Eat your heart out Vail and Mammoth…
Moonlight Basin Resort is only 50 miles from Bozeman, Montana and 50 miles from Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN).
